For marketing or sales letters, the best tip I was ever given was to write like you would speak.  If you look at all the marketing letters on the Internet (a great place to learn from professional copywriters) you&#039;ll see they don&#039;t use formal English, they write very informally, like a letter to a friend.  That helps to create a warmth and familiarity with the reader and makes them feel more comfortable and therefore more likely to buy from you - always nice in business :-)
